Word’s catalogues to purchase the necessities of life. These “wish books” as they were
often called helped people improve the quality of their lives. Nowadays, every household
in the country receives a barrage of various catalogues selling everything from electric
golf cards to padded coat hangers. _____. But so often these items are just superfluous,
absurd trifles.
